CERA OBJECTIVES
- To capacitate the Volunteer and Community Health Cadres as major strategy for involving communities in their own health service delivery;
- To work with church committees and community initiative leaders to identify, train and engage faith based mobilizers in disseminating messages of hope to the Communities especially for people with disabilities;
- To raise rural community awareness on all cross-cutting heath issues affecting community residents such as HIV/AIDS and malnutrition;
- Strengthen the ability of Community Based Organisations (CBOs) to identify needs and to develop and implement program focused on HIV/AIDS and other epidemic in Eswatini communities;
- Mobilize/organize and train/enable Community residents for collective actions to promote sustainable development, and to achieve it through promoting values of Community residents;
- To carry out relevant research related to diseases affecting communities and people with disabilities;
- To promote and create open collaboration with Community Based Organisations (CBOs) which will provide opportunities for learning and sharing experiences;
- To provide Community Based Rehabilitation Services which improve the quality of life of people with disabilities;
- Provide Financial Assistance and Support Services for People with Disabilities;
- To enhance the capacity of people with physical disability for entrepreneurship and the capitalization and management of income generating activities;
ACTIVITIES OF CERA
CERA programs focus on initiatives generated by Community Residents and put forward interest of people with disabilities, vulnerable groups and those affected by HIV/AIDS and implementing co-operatives, education and training to provide a pathway towards opportunity and self-reliance.
The activities of CERA are categorized in 3 programme areas namely:
Community Engagement: This program aim is to bring environmental and behavioural changes that improve the health of the community and its members. This program involves partnerships with other Organisations who help in resource mobilization and influence systems, change relationships among partners.
Community Rehabilitation: This program aim to provide a range of social and rehabilitative services for older people and people with disabilities as well as promoting and expanding access to health services at community level as a basis for improved health outcomes.
Capacity Building for CBOs: This program aims to facilitate skills transfer and operational involvement by Community Based Organisation (CBOs) and other community groups thereby providing technical and Finance assistance.
